While the vaccine is being rolled out across the country we are all doing our bit by staying home and staying safe. Although some businesses remain open others are struggling which has inspired us to share some acts of kindness that you can do during lockdown.
It’s nice to be nice so here our suggestions for some lockdown lifelines for others.
Make that call
Mental health is a high priority for us all so we’re inviting you to keep in touch via phone, email or even video call to those who are struggling during the lockdown. A message or conversation when you’re feeling alone can be so valuable, so make the effort to reach out to someone today.
Whether it’s via donating items from around your home, your time or financially, your local charities will be grateful for the help. Volunteering to local businesses, charities or emergency services can give a welcome boost to your local community.
As the pandemic continues to unfold, food banks are desperate for volunteers or donations so that they can help families who are struggling through this tough time. Families have lost income but it doesn’t mean that they should go hungry so they must rely on food banks for support.
Some people are finding it hard to even do their weekly food shop, whether it’s due to lack of transport or health worries check on you family and neighbours to see if you can help by picking up their groceries the next time you’re going to the supermarket.
As well as keeping our homes clean you can also contact your local groups who are organising litter picking sessions throughout your town or village. If you are considering volunteering in your local area check the coronavirus guidelines first.
By shopping local and even ‘liking’ a local business on Facebook can give a much-needed boost to those who are trying to keep their business running. Writing views and sharing posts is also a kind gesture that you can do from home, spreading some community spirit.
